Calling all singing group and choir leaders.
Help shape a convention on inclusivity in choirs and group singing
We’re planning a brand-new convention in 2026 that brings together singing practioners/leaders and academic researchers to explore inclusive practices in group singing
We want to hear from you!
Hosted by The Choir with No Name, Shared Harmonies, Arts in Health and the Singing in Balance network, the aim of the convention is not solely to focus on the impact of singing itself, there are lots of existing conferences, publications and projects in this area. Instead, the convention will focus on the practices and approaches that create impact and lead to truly inclusive singing groups. How do we ensure our choirs are truly welcoming, empowering, and accessible? How do we teach in an inclusive way, supporting our choir members to be great singers whilst being mindful of the challenges we face in daily life? What skills and approaches help us lead more inclusive, socially engaged singing communities?
We’re running a series of informal drop-in sessions to gather your thoughts. Come along, share your ideas, and help shape a convention that meets your needs.
Hosted by:
And the Singing in Balance Network at the Universities of Sheffield, Leeds and York.
